The owners of this lake home wanted to winterize their existing 12’x12’ porch and add a fireplace to it. They found that would require them to remodel more than 50 percent of the room. Knowing that, and because the fireplace would take up much needed space, they decided it would be more economical to tear down the existing porch and build a larger porch that would still fit with the rest of the house. This was a difficult decision, as the owners were very much attached to their lakeside room. The result is a cozy three-season porch addition with hardwood flooring, pine v-joint paneling at the walls and ceiling, log beam accents, and a gas fireplace with simulated stone. Memorabilia and elements from the old porch were also incorporated.
